My daughter is a rooster.

Not an actual rooster (this time, at least). A rooster in the sense that she's taken to waking up at the crack of dawn, coming into our room, screeching "IT'S MORNING" as loudly as she can, and going back to bed. Every day. Weekends and holidays including. It wouldn't be so bad except once she's woken me up, I'm up. So of course she has more energy than me all day long, which is a given anyway. What's worse is that we couldn't put her into nursery school because of her... condition, so I'm stuck with her all day. I shouldn't say stuck like it's a bad thing, because it's definitely not, but it gets exhausting some of the time.

Ted's lucky. He's taken to wearing earplugs to bed so Nymphadora doesn't wake him up. I'd cast some sort of silencing charm, but one of us needs to be able to hear in case the fire alarm goes off or there's another explosion or Nymphadora has a nightmare. Lucky me.

The exciting news is that we moved out of our flat! After last months issues we decided it would be best to get away from the city so we've got a nice country cottage. Ted can still Apparate to work and it's not so far away that Ted's mother can't come visit us all the time.

I need to go make my little rooster breakfast now. She's decided not to eat the colour orange so every morning's an adventure!

We're staying at Ted's mum and dad's right now. Our flat is currently missing a wall. It wasn't Ted's fault this time either!! There's a couple of boys living next to us and they decided to try a new spell and blew up their entire flat, taking our wall with it. Nymphadora and I were at the park, thankfully, and Ted at work so we're all fine. They were hurt pretty badly, though, but they're in St. Mungo's and they're getting better. Nymphadora drew them a nice picture and we visited them yesterday. Hector, the older one, lost a limb, which is so sad, but his younger brother, Lionel, is looking very good. Or, slightly less crispy than he was a few days ago.

The building manager says it'll be a week or so before we're able to move back home. It's all right, though. It's nice and cozy here and Nymphadora loves it. Ted's mum just made dinner (it's so nice not having to cook) and we're about to eat.

Nymphadora just drew what looks to be a Quidditch match on the living room walls.

Complete with a Snitch in golden crayon.

Sirius Black and Theodore Tonks, you are going to pay.

I'm so sleepy. I'm using this to help me stay awake.

Nymphadora's been ill the past few days with a high fever and everything. I hate seeing her like this and it scares me to death so I can't bear to go to sleep because I just know something bad will happen while I'm sleeping. I've just been sitting next to the poor dear's bed watching her sleep. Ted's been sick as well, so he can't really help. It's plain exhausting, I tell you.

Sirius, once this clears up, Nymphadora and I will be coming down to London to help you learn how to grocery shop. No excuses.

Yesterday was my twenty-first birthday and it was quite wonderful. I baked a cake the day before (with Nymphadora's help, of course) and Ted's mother made dinner. It was so nice to have the whole family together like that. Ted's older brother and his wife even came with their two little ones.

Nymphadora coloured me a picture with her fingerpaints and Ted helped her. (I'm rather certain he enjoyed doing it more than she did.) Vivian, Ted's mother, made a new quilt for me. She's so fantastic at those sort of things. I couldn't sew to save my life, but I suppose that's what magic is for. My sister and brother-in-law gave me a beautiful new dress that I can't wait to have a proper occassion to wear. Most exciting, Ted's parents are watching Nymphadora tomorrow evening so we can have a night to ourselves to celebrate. How wonderfully thoughtful of them. Overall it was a lovely day.
